Exhibition dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Hello Kitty

This year marks half a century since Sanrio's beloved Japanese character Hello Kitty first appeared on the scene. An exhibition dedicated to this event will be held at Tokyo National Museum from November 1 to February 24 next year.

Along with the largest collection of merchandise ever presented at such an exhibition, original video content and photography are in development to reveal the irresistible charm of this cultural icon that... is said to have inspired the use of the word "kawaii" as a lingua franca throughout the world. Tickets are on sale now.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention and Tourism Bureau are now working together with Hello Kitty from Sanrio Co., Ltd. on the launch of the "How to 'Hello Tokyo'" campaign, which provides Tokyo tourists with basic knowledge about local etiquette and culture. Keep an eye out for posters at cultural institutions and other locations at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum. Travelers who receive guidance from TOKYO VOLUNTEER GUIDES can also receive an original sticker. There are plenty of tips to make your trip more comfortable, so be sure to check them out.
