Introducing ARUBA HAPPINESS BEADS, designed by Loretti Design exclusively for Beads of Courage® and their Carry a Bead® program.
Beads of Courage is a non-profit organization offering arts in Medicine, which allows children battling serious illnesses to tell their stories and reflect on their medical journey through a colorful bead system.
Based in the United States, the first program was piloted at Children's Phoenix hospital in 2003. Giving beads at the bedside is now standard practice and supports 60,000 children every day in more than 200 hospitals and 365 participating organizations in 9 countries.
The program distributes 14,000,000 beads annually beads The special Act of Courage beads are donated by glass artists around the world and are given in recognition of the courage shown during milestone treatments.
“I have supported Beads of Courage for several years and have been motivated make further contributions. When I found out about their Carry a Bead program I was especially touched, it was such a special way to connect. It was my turn to make a difference.
“When I started developing this project, I realized that it couldn’t just be “some” bead... the bead needed story. I soon realized that the story was, in fact, already all around me; I'm lucky enough to live on a place called "One Happy Island"...and thus the Aruba Happiness Bead was born.
Each handcrafted glass bead represents the positive energy of the island, inspired by its glorious elements and the warmth of its people. By wearing a pin with matching beads, of which 1 bead is returned along with a handwritten card, we can share our love, good energy and joy from our One Happy Island and thereby brighten a child's day.
“Our goal is to support and raise awareness of this outstanding non-profit organization and to generally spread a sense of happiness and well-being,” states Deborah de Weerd | Designer and creative force of Loretti design studio.
