In Abuja the Sunrise water park, an entertainment complex and recreation center developed by Nadeem Group, a private consulting company in the field, opened engineering, real estate, hospitality and management.
The water park features eight different water slides, a wave pool, a leisure pool, a lazy river pool, an active lagoon and a ninja jumping area. Facilities include a restaurant, café and ice cream stalls, as well as private cabanas and a VIP poolside area.
During the inauguration, Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria, announced, that the water park is an initiative of the FCT administration and is part of the Renewed Hope Action Plan, which aims to stimulate investors interested in developing the country's tourism sector.
Wike expressed optimism about the untapped potential of Nigeria's tourism sector and said that with the right investment and development, the sector can attract high foreign exchange earnings, which will significantly boost the country's economy.
The Renewed Hope Action Plan promises to upgrade existing entertainment venues and build new ones in six geo-political zones Nigeria through public-private partnership.
Sunrise Water Park is FCT's first successful public-private tourism venture. FCT is also considering encouraging investors to develop other attractions such as the Yaba Fishing Site, the Ushafa Pottery Center and the Millennium Tower projects.
