If reports are to be believed, the Nepalese government recently declared Pokhara, located in the stunning Gandaki province, as the main tourist capital of the Himalayan country. This official announcement was made during a special gathering at Barahi Ghat, which graces the tranquil shores of the breathtaking Phewa Lake.

Despite Pokhara's long-standing reputation as a renowned tourist destination, recently it received official recognition as a tourist capital after meeting basic criteria. The designation marks an important milestone in Pokhara's journey, strengthening its position as a leading destination for tourism activities.

According to Pokhara Mayor Dhanaraj Acharya, this declaration has profound implications for the global recognition of Pokhara. This recognition not only confirms Pokhara's existing appeal, but also sets the stage for further development and promotion of its unique offerings to travelers around the world.

In addition, it was announced that from Sunday, businesses such as discos, nightclubs and live music venues in Pokhara will be able to operate at night, providing enhanced entertainment and recreational facilities.

Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey noted that various establishments, including bars, restaurants, spas, grocery stores and eateries located in key areas such as Lakeside, Prithvi Chowk, Mahendrapool and Chipledhunga in Pokhara will be allowed to continue operating until 1 am. This benefit is provided on the condition that they meet the prescribed standards.
