Lufthansa has announced initial routes for its latest short-haul subsidiary Lufthansa City for the 2024 summer season.

Two Airbus A319s have already been painted in the new livery and the airline said orders for summer season will be available from April.

Initial routes for summer 2024 include domestic flights from the Munich hub to Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Cologne and Hannover, as well as three international routes to Birmingham, Bordeaux and Manchester.

The plans of the subsidiary company became known in April last year. The airline is looking to gradually expand its network and has already ordered 40 Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

The launch of the regional branch comes at a time when other European countries such as France and Spain are tightening restrictions on short-haul flights. distances that could instead be served by rail.
