Serenade passengers will determine the route

Passengers who are on board a full 9-month world cruise on the Royal Caribbean liner Serenade of the Seas, which set sail on its 274-day world cruise in December 2023, has been asked to take an alternative route due to tensions in the Middle East.

The parts of the original itinerary that will be affected are the 18-day Ultimate segment through Jordan, Egypt and Israel, as well as the route that will take them through Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Greece and Italy.

Serenade of the Seas held a meeting in the ship's Tropical Theater and explained the situation to passengers, offering them two alternative routes to vote upon departure from Dubai.

The first alternative route, Immersive Africa, includes calls at 20 ports 11 African countries such as Madagascar, Namibia, Ghana and South Africa.

The second option is the Africa and Greece itinerary, which circles the African continent and explores the Greek islands. The route includes calls at the port of Victoria in the Seychelles, Cape Town, Tenerife and an overnight stay in Alexandria.

Voting results are expected on February 27.
