Japan Airlines Introduces Headrest Speakers

Japan Airlines' new A350-1 aircraft features the world's first headphone-free stereo systems in first and business class seats.

The headphone-free stereo system operates through built-in speakers in the headrests, allowing passengers to listen in-flight entertainment without using headphones.

According to One Mile at a Time, the new technology comes as a surprise given that Japanese culture values quiet on public transport. Ben Schlappig, a platform reviewer, says the sound from the headrest did not disturb other passengers, but it may be unnecessary given the current adoption and use of Bluetooth headphones and headphones. However, headrests are ideal for those who prefer not to cover their ears.
