MGTO and Cathay Pacific organize tourism + MICE study visit on Philippine trade to develop international marketing

Government Tourism Office Macau (MGTO) and Cathay Pacific jointly invited a delegation of ten representatives from the Philippine tourism and MICE sector to visit Hong Kong and Macau during one study tour at the end of September. The itinerary covered a number of tourism destinations and MICE sites in Macau, as well as a retail workshop organized by MGTO to stimulate the desire of Filipino and foreign travelers to visit Hong Kong and Macau in one trip.

The Philippines has high potential as one of the main markets for international visitors.

By number of visitors between January and August 2023 The Philippines ranks fourth among the top ten visitor-attracting markets and is one of the main international visitor markets for Macau. The average daily influx of Filipino visitors during the period increased to 61.2% of the corresponding figure in 2019. From September 25 to 28, the delegation made a four-day study visit to Hong Kong and Macau. On September 27 and 28, the delegation visited Macau to learn more about the city's strengths as a travel and MICE destination. Their trip included visits to Macau's World Heritage sites and the Macau Grand Prix Museum, an unforgettable experience at the Macau Tower, exploring the MICE and entertainment facilities of the integrated resorts, and sampling Macau's signature delicacies.

Tourism and MICE Trade Network Seminar

MGTO held a trade network workshop and invited the Macau Institute for Trade and Investment Promotion (IPIM) to provide the delegation with an overview of Macau's MICE industry. Trade representatives from Macau and the Philippines contacted and explored cooperation opportunities.

Expand international tourism markets through Hong Kong-Macao tourism products.

Through networking seminar, study visit and gaining first-hand experience, the delegation gained a better understanding of the latest travel and MICE trends in Macau, facilitating the development and launch of Hong Kong-Macao tourism products specifically designed for Filipino visitors. The office also highlighted the ease of transport links between the two cities to tap into the potential of international visitor markets.

Convenient transit and special offers on direct flights

MGTO is making great efforts efforts to expand Southeast Asian visitor markets through initiatives such as the launch of special offers on direct flight tickets in partnership with airlines. Using cross-border bus service between the SkyPier Terminal at Hong Kong International Airport and Macau Port on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, MGTO continues to promote this convenient bus service in the two cities, inviting industry operators and media for first-hand experience and subsequent publicity through its network to encourage more international travelers to visit Macau via Hong Kong and stimulate two-way tourism.
