The cultural, economic and political center of Armenia is often characterized as a “City on Eternal Vacation.” The number of residents is a third of the country's population and has long since exceeded a million, and it seems that none of them are in a hurry. They just stroll along the boulevards and pop into their favorite coffee shops.

Yerevan is also a pink city: most of the buildings in the center are made of stone of this color.

How to get to Yerevan

Moscow and Yerevan are connected by direct flights. Flights of various airlines fly from Domodedovo and Vnukovo. The flight takes 4 hours.
In Yerevan, flights arrive at Zvartnots International Airport, located 12 km from the city. You can get to the center from here by bus or minibus in half an hour, or by taxi in 15 minutes.
Buses run regularly from many Russian cities to Yerevan. The distance from Moscow is approximately 3000 km, travel time is plus or minus 48 hours. The road passes through the territory of Georgia.
You can travel by private car. In this case, it is necessary to obtain temporary import of the vehicle and MTPL insurance.

City hotels

In Yerevan you can find different accommodation options - from the most modest to luxury. The most expensive accommodation is in the center of the capital, in such chain hotels as Marriott, Best Western, Hyatt, Golden Tulip. There are also small hotels with courtyards and gardens.
For the more budget-conscious crowd, hostels are suitable. If you want to find local flavor in a hotel, you are better off looking for private accommodation on the outskirts.

Transport

Yerevan has almost all types of public transport - metro, trolleybuses, buses and minibuses. A not very large metro connected the northwestern and southern regions. It consists of one branch with 10 stations. The cheapest option for traveling around the city is a trolleybus. Such a trip could well pass for an excursion.
Yerevan residents themselves prefer buses and minibuses. There are many taxi companies in the city. Calculation is carried out according to the meter.
You can rent a bicycle in specialized stores.
It's nice to walk around Yerevan, but if you're planning a trip out of town, it's best to rent a car in
Homycars Armenia. It is more convenient to book a car in advance via the Internet, but you can directly come to the rental office.

Beaches of Yerevan

The Armenian capital has its own reservoir or Lake Yerevan, but most residents prefer to go to Sevan, a high-mountain lake 60 km from the city. Sevan beaches are made of small pebbles, but there are also sandy ones. The resort infrastructure is not very well developed - the beaches have only the most necessary things.
The best time for swimming is from July to the end of August.

Local cooking

In Yerevan, you should definitely try the “Khorovats” kebab, with a side dish of fresh herbs and vegetables, “Kufta” - meat soufflé, “Spas” kefir soup and, of course, “Tzhvzhik” - a dish made from liver and other offal.
The famous Armenian wine “Old Yerevan” will go perfectly with your meal. You can also order fruit vodka made from mulberry, cherry, pear, peach, apricot, etc. Well, what would a dinner in Yerevan be without the star of the table - local cognac?!
For a light snack, thin flatbread “lahmejun” baked in the oven is suitable. It is covered with meat puree, sauce and finely chopped herbs. And you can quench your thirst with a thick fermented milk drink called matsun.
