Masterpiece in the forest
The other day, Queen Sonja of Norway opened an amazing museum, located deep in the forest surrounded by picturesque landscapes.
The unique design of the new architectural structure immediately attracts attention. It’s no wonder that both Bloomberg and The Telegraph included the new Twist gallery in the list of the most beautiful architectural innovations of 2019.
The museum received the name “Twist” because of its shape, which resembles a 60-meter-long metal bar twisted in the center, thrown across the Randselva River. The building is at the same time a gallery, a bridge, and a sculpture. The famous architectural bureau of the Danish Bjarke Ingels BIG worked on the project. Despite its apparent compactness, the museum's area is one thousand square meters.
The bridge museum connects the northern and southern parts of the Kistefos Sculpture Park and is a natural continuation of the tourist trail that runs through the park. Huge panoramic windows overlooking the river give the room amazing light, changing many times during the day.
The organizers plan to hold international exhibitions here, and the first of them, which opened on the same day as the museum, called Hodgkin and Creed - Inside Out, showcases the works of contemporary British artists Howard Hodgkin and Martin Creed. The exhibition will be open until November 17.
