Transport in Kenya or buses is good

Kenya
Eh, Nairobi is kind of boring... The last few days have been quite hot and stuffy, a complete bustle, everyone is running somewhere, in a hurry, and even the ancient clock from the times of the English colonization was not pleasing to the eye.

Eh, I'm tired of Nairobi... The last few days have been quite hot and stuffy, a complete bustle, everyone is running somewhere, in a hurry, and even the old clock from the time of the English colonization was not pleasing to the eye.
The author felt tired, and all he wanted was to leave the capital for a while and move to the coast, where he could dive into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

There are different ways to get from Nairobi to Mombasa, and of course, later in the blog, I will tell you about them in more detail.
But this time, I went to buy a bus ticket, and after looking at various offers, I chose the Modern Coast company - Oxigen-bass, which turned out to be only $ 4 more expensive than the cost of the Normal express, subject to VIP seats.

For example:

Route Nairobi - Mombasa
Oxigen bass $22 or KES 2200
Normal bass $18 or KES 1800

I’ll make a digression and tell the dear reader that buses in Kenya run at different times, and you can get anywhere on them - the bus service is quite decent, there are a lot of transport companies, I won’t list names, because their prices are approximately the same . This is the cheapest and most comfortable way to travel within the country. I compared prices for bus and train tickets for the same destinations, and the former turned out to be 25% cheaper. By the way, tickets can be booked online at "Modern Coast".

Buses are divided into regular ones, which are used mainly by the local population. And express trains, they are more comfortable, there is a luggage compartment, soft folding seats in the cabin, and a working air conditioner.
But this time, when I saw the so-called Oxigen bass, I was incredibly surprised! The smiling and neat staff took my luggage from their hands, checked it for safety, and in return, I received my luggage tag and went into the cabin. A completely new bus, spacious, clean and bright, the air conditioning works properly, there are sockets for charging your phone, and there is a new film in English on TV.
I fell into a wide seat, where, if you squeezed it down, two of us could easily fit, stretched out my legs, and realized that from that day on, if I chose to travel by bus, I would only travel in such a chair and in such a class.

When we set off, I remembered that I didn’t have time to have a snack, and the journey was not close, about 8 hours one way. But pretty soon we made a stop at a roadside cafe, where passengers could get out, stretch their legs, smoke and have a snack. By the way, in my earlier article you can read about the national cuisine in Kenya. The road in this direction was quite good, there was no shaking or motion sickness, so I slept the rest of the way. In fact, the journey took not 8, but 10 hours, which, in fact, did not in any way affect the attitude towards the trip as a whole.

I arrived in Mombasa fresh and rested, full of strength and energy to explore new coastal corners of Kenya. I will definitely talk about this in the next parts of my blog).
