Action and adventures in Laos

Laos, Vientiane, Vang Vieng, Khammouane province, Luang Prabang province
Here, active travelers can focus on the beauty of nature rather than just trying to survive while avoiding traffic and air pollution.

Do you like outdoor activities? If you fancy a holiday with lots of action and activity, high adrenaline or extreme adventure, we have the place just for you.

Perhaps you are a fan of a certain sport, like cycling, running , trekking, rock climbing or kayaking. Or maybe you relax and get away from the stress of work and the indoor lifestyle by getting a little active in the sun and fresh air?

Instead of working out at the gym as you might be doing Back home, why not try aerobics on the Mekong waterfront at sunset? Or lazily float down the river in Vang Vieng, this hub of activity just half a day's drive from Vientiane or Luang Prabang.

And it doesn't have to be all outdoors. What about fun activities like cooking classes, crafts, photography or meditation?

Cycling

How about a regular hour-long drive along the Mekong embankment in Vientiane?

Do you like to drive further? Why not try a serious four-day bike ride around the Ring in the Central Provinces, or head further south to climb the Bolawan Plateau on loops usually taken by first-time motorcycle riders?

Run

Laos is the latest big news in the running world, from extremely challenging trail running events like the Vang Viel Trail to plenty of fast and flat half-course races, such as the half marathon or full marathon in Vientiane.

Hiking and trekking

In Laos, unlike Thailand or Vietnam, it is easy to get out into nature and away from people. Hiking and ziplining can take you deep into the forests where you won't see other tourists or people at all, and walking through rural villages and small towns will give you an up-close look at Laotian life without being hounded by souvenir sellers or beggars.

Rock climbing

Discover wonderful tuff and rock climbing routes.

Experienced rock climbers can explore giant peaks with unique routes ranging from 6b+ to 8c at Green Climbers Home in Kham Mouan Province.

As a beginner, you will also find plenty of challenges and fun in the adventure city of Vang Vieng in Vientiane Province.

Kayaking, rafting and tubing

Enjoy crystal clear waters as you flow downstream between limestone mountains and remote villages accessible only by river.

Meet local fishermen and play with splashing children.

The rivers of Laos and the rafting associated with them are largely determined by the season: what can be rapids and whitewater during the rainy season (June to October), green wooded shores, colorful waterfowl and the occasional flock of monkeys during the drier seasons.

Sounds tempting, doesn't it?
