The Canary Islands are an archipelago of seven large and several small islands located in the Atlantic Ocean west of the northwestern coast of Africa.

They are an autonomous part of Spain and are popular among tourists due to their mild climate, beautiful beaches and authentic culture. Each of the islands has its own special atmosphere and attractions.

Tenerife

Cuisine of the Canary Islands

Canarian cuisine is a combination of Spanish, African and Latin American traditions. Main courses include:

  • Mojo (spicy sauce served with potatoes and fish )
  • Ropa Vieja (dish made from leftover meat)
  • Gofio (traditional grain flour)
